Aftercare

Your energetic body is very sensitive after an energy work session. You may find yourself elated and light from the cleared energy, or you may find yourself emotional, tired, foggy, or sore from the layers of energy that were sifted through and balanced. If you find yourself on the more uncomfortable end of the spectrum, know it will pass. Giving yourself extra support will make the experience easier to bear.

The goal here is to find your zen.

So what can you do?

  • Avoid alcohol or other harsh substances. These substances lower our energetic frequency. Reiki expands the energy body, so if you consume these lower vibrational substances, you may notice an increase of return in unpleasant symptoms (fear, anxiety, rage, etc) more quickly.
  • Eat healthily. Fruits, veggies, salads, “lighter” meats like chicken or fish.
  • Avoid arguments, watching the news, social media, and heavy conversations for the first few hours to few days following your energy work session. Each person is different and varies in sensitivity, so you may find that more time is necessary than others. If you can’t avoid these things, don’t worry – you didn’t “undo” anything. It simply puts your energetic body at a higher risk of retracting back to how it felt before, so you may not feel the benefits of energy work as strongly for as long on a conscious level.
  • Take time for self care. Take a salt bath. Get a massage or give yourself a massage. Spend time in nature. Drink some tea and read an enjoyable (peaceful) book. You are your hero on this journey, so you must take the lead in nurturing yourself in order to reap the benefits and having a positive outcome in your story.
  • Hydrate! Drink lots of water. You might want to set an intention on the water that you drink that corresponds to things you’d like to bring into your life. Some intentions that I like to bring in are love, hope, happiness, satisfaction, peace, and calmness.
  • Breathe. Remember that water and oxygen are life forces that nourish us, so breathing deeply for the days and weeks following an energetic session will help you integrate the energy that surfaced during your session.

Some things to remember

I did not heal you. I held space for your higher self to take over and heal whatever was needed within your body at the time. You are a healer! I am simply a conduit of this life force energy and channeled what our higher selves and guides suggested was best for you.

Frequency of sessions vary from person to person. I often suggest 3-4 weeks between sessions so that gives you time to integrate and get comfortable with the energy upgrade. Remember that sometimes unpleasant feelings and thoughts may surface while you’re integrating, or allowing the new energy to become your norm as the old energy clears. This does not mean that the session “did not work”; it means that you are healing.

“The only way out is through” is a nice phrase to remember that we often must feel the ugly stuff in order to make space for the good feeling stuff.
